Eating in Austin, TX

Breakfast:

3704 Kerbey Lane, Austin, TX 78731

Kerbey Lane is one of my favorite places to eat with my family and my friends.
Kerbey Lane is open 24/7 and there’s several locations around Austin, but if you
want to visit the original Kerbey Lane it is located at 3704 Kerbey Lane, Austin, TX 78731.
They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and my personal favorite thing to get is their buttermilk
pancakes with a cinnamon swirl.

1700 S Lamar Blvd #301 or 3800 N Lamar Blvd Suite 120

Snooze is my all time favorite favorite place to eat breakfast. Snooze originated in 2006 in Denver,
Colorado, although it is not an Austin original it is one of the best places to get breakfast. Their
different types of french toast is amazing along with their grits. I recommend going before 10-11 AM
because it does get busy, and the waits can get up to an hour. Do take note that Snooze is only open
from 6:30AM-2:30PM.

2304 Lake Austin Blvd Austin, TX 78703 or 1920 S. Congress Ave Austin, TX 78704

Magnolia Cafe is one of the most famous restaurants that originated in Austin. It’s my parents favorite
place to go and it’s open 24/7! They’re omelettes are popularly ordered, along with their pancakes.
Expect a wait in the morning to mid-afternoon because it is one of the most popular places here in Austin.

600 N. Lamar Austin, TX

24 Diner is another Austin original that’s open 24 hours as well. Every Time I’ve been there’s always a
wait, but it’s not terrible, trust me. My favorite thing to get is the chicken and waffles, but I learned to get
the small order because they give you a BUNCH of chicken. The service and food is always good, plus if
you have to wait there’s Waterloo records and Lush right next to it!

7101 Hwy 71 W Austin, TX 78735 or 12832 Research Blvd Austin, TX 78750

Jim’s originated in San Antonio, TX and it’s only locations are in San Antonio and Austin. It’s even
opened 24 hours! If you’re feeling homesick I definitely recommend Jim’s because it always has a warm
atmosphere and good service.I’ve been going ever since I was a little girl and their food always leaves
me satisfied. If you’re looking for a cheaper option to eat than Kerbey Lane or Snooze come here!
You won’t regret it.

Lunch/Dinner:

1415 S Congress Ave or 501 E 53rd St

Home Slice is an Austin original and is always busy. On the weekends the wait at night can get up to an
hour, but in all honesty it’s worth the wait. I’m not a huge pizza fan, but the pizza is always so fresh and
hot I’m always happy. Do note that they’re not open on Tuesday nights, I learned this the hard way.

452 W 2nd St. Austin, TX 78701

Numero 28 is an Italian restaurant and their pizzas are the most popular. This is a great place to bring a
date, and/or your family. The restaurant is small, but the service is always great and I've never had to wait.
The margarita pizza is my favorite, but their other options are just as good. This isn’t an Austin original,
but definitely is worth coming if you haven’t been or don’t have it.

4729 Burnet Road Austin, TX 78756

Pint House Pizza is only in Texas and it’s a seat yourself kind of place. You order your food then pick it up.
This is one of the best places to go for happy hour because they have a separate bar you can order from.
The pizzas don’t take long to cook, and they always taste fresh.

166 Hargraves Dr h Austin, TX 78737

Pieous is also another amazing pizza place here in Austin. They’re wood-fired pizzas made from scratch
on sourdough crust. If you’re staying downtown it may be a little out of the way but it one of the most
popular pizza places. You order and seat yourself and their pizzas are served individually. They have
many different varieties of pizza and you can build your own.

2809 S 1st St, Austin, TX 78704

Torchy’s Tacos started as a food truck here in Austin and now has many restaurants spread across Texas.
Every single taco is amazing and you order when you walk in. I recommend getting the Trailer Park
“Trashy” and the Green Chile Pork. You also HAVE to get the queso there. If you love tacos this is the
perfect place for you.

1728 Barton Springs Rd, Austin, TX 78704

Chuy’s is probably the most popular Tex-Mex restaurant started in Austin, in 1982. My favorite thing to get
is the custom enchiladas where I get chicken with tomatillo sauce. If you go at happy hour you get
unlimited free queso! Past 7PM there’s typically a 30 minute wait, but there’s a bunch of seating, so the
wait doesn’t take so long.

404 S Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78704

P. Terry’s is a fast food restaurant created in Austin and only available in Austin, Lake Travis, and San
Marcos. If you’re looking for a quick, cheap meal or snack I highly recommend coming here. My favorite
thing to do is to go swimming at Barton Springs then drive down the road to P. Terry’s for a chocolate
milkshake with some french fries. P Terry's is a burger place so I wouldn’t recommend it if you didn’t like
burgers.

807 W 6th St, Austin, TX 78703

I’m not a huge fan of burgers but Hut’s is my absolute favorite burger place. I come here every year for
my birthday and always get “Chubby Chuck's” which has pickles, onions, grated cheddar & hickory sauce
(but I ask for no onions). When you go make sure to ask for a half order of fries/onion rings because the
burgers don’t come with them unless you ask. If you love milkshakes I definitely think you should order
them because they’re so creamy and good on a hot day.

1400 S Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704

Hopdoddy is also another popular burger place located on South Congress. If you’re vegan they alter
some of their burgers to make them vegan, but they also offer salads. In the middle they also have a bar
for those of you who are looking for a restaurant and bar. They’re also dog friendly for patio seating.

Burger Tex is my brother's favorite burger places in Austin. Their fries are the best part in my opinion.
They're so crisp and tasty. Burger Tex is a hidden gem of Austin so most likely you won't have to wait
long for your burger.

1003 Barton Springs Rd, Austin, TX 78704

Black’s barbecue is one of my personal favorite barbecue place here in Austin. For BBQ it is not overly
expensive unlike other places. You get to choose what you want and put it on your own plate. Your meat
is cut fresh and given to you. There’s plenty of seating, and a quick line.

18300 Farm to Market Rd 1826, Driftwood, TX 78619

The Salt Lick is pretty far from downtown, but if you visit Austin you have to go. The Salt Lick is pretty
much the most popular BBQ place right outside of Austin. The service is typically always good. I’ve
heard some bad reviews, but when I go my food is always prepared quickly, and the service is always
good.

900 E 11th St, Austin, TX 78702

Franklin’s by far is the best BBQ place here, but you have to be willing to wait. People begin to wait
outside at 6AM for the BBQ. You can preorder, but make sure you place your order weeks in advance.
When Franklin’s opens they pretty much sell out within 2-3 hours after opening, so be prepared to wait
for hours, or to order in advance.

Sandy’s does serve burgers, but the best thing to get here is old-fashioned menu milkshakes, custards
& sundaes. It just down the road from Barton Springs and Peter Pan Mini Golf

Steel City Pops are popsicles all made from natural and fresh ingredients. It’s only located in the south
and it’s perfect on a hot day in Austin.

3500 Guadalupe St, Austin, TX 78705

Amy’s Ice Cream is another Austin original with some of the best ice cream available. You can build your
own ice cream, or order one of their quirky specials of the month. Plus they do special tricks when they’re
making your ice cream.

2700 S Lamar Blvd

If ice cream or popsicles don’t sound good to you there’s also Gourdough’s which are donuts, but they’re
not any regular donuts. These donuts are topped and coated with tons of flavors, and are huge, so make
sure you have a big enough stomach! They once started off as a trailer truck and now they have actual
restaurants for these amazing donuts.
